Can You Spend Futures PnL Directly With a Crypto Card?

No. Futures PnL cannot be spent directly with an exchange card. On Bybit, profit becomes realized only when you close the position, and that realized PnL settles into the Unified Trading Account balance — an account the Bybit Card cannot read. The card draws exclusively on the Funding Account and Flexible Easy Earn. Close the position, let the realized PnL post to the trading balance, then make a free internal transfer to Funding. Only then is it spendable.

TL;DR

  • Unrealized PnL is never spendable — it exists only on paper while the position is open.
  • Realized PnL lands in the Unified Trading Account, which exchange cards cannot access.
  • A free, instant internal transfer to the Funding Account is the missing step.

Where futures PnL actually sits

While a position is open, profit is unrealized: a mark-to-market number, not money. When you close, Bybit records the result in the Closed P&L tab of the trading account. The credited figure is the position P&L minus the opening fee, the closing fee, and all funding fees paid or received over the position's life — which is why closed PnL is often smaller than the green number you watched.

That settled amount stays inside the Unified Trading Account, where it counts toward margin for other positions. Nothing about closing a trade moves money to a spendable balance automatically.

The transfer step and its timing

Go to Assets, hit Transfer, and move the amount from Unified Trading Account to Funding Account. Bybit's internal transfers are instant and free. The realized PnL is available to transfer as soon as the position is fully closed and fees are settled — there is no multi-day withholding period for standard perpetual trades.

After the transfer, the card's Spending Power updates immediately. If you keep positions running, transfer only free margin: pulling collateral that backs open trades raises liquidation risk.

Risk warning: derivatives and crypto-backed credit involve significant risk, including liquidation of your collateral. Never commit funds you cannot afford to lose. Nothing on this page is financial, investment or tax advice.

Who this is NOT for

  • Traders looking to borrow against open positions instead of closing them
  • Users of cards funded from external wallets rather than an exchange account

Frequently asked questions

No. Spending power on exchange cards is computed from spendable balances only — on Bybit, the Funding Account plus Flexible Easy Earn. Unrealized PnL lives in the derivatives margin system and can evaporate with the next price tick, so no card program counts it as money you can spend.
