Can You Withdraw USDT at a Regular ATM?

Not directly. Regular ATMs dispense fiat only, so USDT has to be converted first — which is exactly what a crypto card does: it sells your USDT at the moment of withdrawal and the machine pays out euros or dollars. Total cost is typically a 0-2% ATM fee plus a 0-1.5% conversion fee (NomadCrypto database, 20 July 2026). Crypto ATMs are a separate, far more expensive category, with documented all-in costs of 5-20% per transaction.

TL;DR

  • No ATM dispenses USDT; the token is converted to fiat before cash comes out.
  • A crypto card does the conversion automatically at the machine for roughly 1-3.5% all-in.
  • Crypto ATMs charge documented visible fees of 5-20% plus exchange-rate spreads of 8-15% — and most are buy-only.

How a crypto card turns USDT into cash

Insert the card, request an amount, and the provider converts USDT to fiat in real time during authorization. On the Bybit Card that means the One-Click Sell rate plus a 0.9% conversion fee, and a 2% ATM fee beyond the regional monthly free allowance; the Krak Card charges 0% ATM fee plus 1% conversion, and Bit2Me 0% plus 1.2%, per the NomadCrypto database (20 July 2026).

Daily caps apply — commonly €300-€2,000 depending on the card — and the ATM operator may add its own disclosed surcharge on screen.

Crypto ATMs are a different, expensive machine

Crypto ATMs (Bitcoin ATMs) are kiosk exchanges, not bank machines. Industry documentation puts visible transaction fees at 5-20%, with operators adding an exchange-rate margin of roughly 8-15% over the market price; the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City found a median cost around 16% per transaction. Documented sell-side (cash-out) spreads run 5-12%.

Two further limits: most machines primarily support BTC rather than USDT, and many are buy-only — they take cash and send crypto, not the reverse. For turning USDT into banknotes, a crypto card at an ordinary ATM costs a fraction of a crypto-ATM cash-out.

Who this is NOT for

  • Buying USDT with cash — that is what crypto ATMs and P2P marketplaces do, at their own price
  • Countries where your card program is not licensed; check the card's country list first
