Bybit Sues North Korea Over $1.5B Hack, Secures Asset Freeze Order
Crypto exchange Bybit has initiated legal action against North Korea following a significant hack, obtaining an order to freeze assets.
Bybit has filed a lawsuit against North Korea in connection with a $1.5 billion hack, as reported by Decrypt. The exchange has also successfully obtained a court order to freeze assets related to the incident.
The hack, attributed to the Lazarus Group, occurred in February 2025. Bybit states it has since recovered $48.4 million of the stolen funds.
Additionally, the exchange has managed to freeze an extra $30.5 million in assets. These amounts represent a fraction of the total $1.5 billion that was reportedly taken during the cyberattack.
