Bybit from zero to spendable in ~40 minutes
Based on verified official data as of 20.07.2026; hands-on update coming.
You can go from no Bybit account to a spendable card balance in roughly 40 minutes if verification passes automatically: account creation takes about 5 minutes, Level 1 KYC (government ID plus selfie) typically returns a result within 15 minutes per Bybit's help center, a TRC20 USDT deposit lands in about 2 minutes, and the card application plus top-up takes another 10-15 minutes. Two honesty checks first: Bybit does not serve US retail customers (the UK also faces restrictions), and the Bybit Card is not available to EEA customers as of 20 July 2026.
TL;DR
- Level 1 KYC needs a government-issued ID and a selfie; Bybit's help center says results typically arrive within 15 minutes, with manual review taking 24-48 hours.
- Bybit does not serve the US, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore or Canada, and the Bybit Card is not offered to EEA customers — check eligibility before starting.
- Crypto deposits are free; P2P purchases advertise zero fee; spot trades cost 0.1% base tier (crypto-fiat pairs from 0.15%).
- The card charges 0.9% conversion and 0.5% FX with 2-10% cashback by spend tier, all verified 20 July 2026.
- Google Pay is supported across Bybit Card programs; Apple Pay depends on your regional program — verify in the card section of the app.
- 1
Check eligibility
Confirm your country is served: Bybit excludes the US, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and other listed jurisdictions, and the Bybit Card is not offered to EEA customers. Check the official restricted-countries page before creating anything. Time: 2 minutes.
- 2
Create the account
Sign up on bybit.com or the app with email and a strong unique password. Verify the email code to activate the account. Time: about 5 minutes.
- 3
Secure it
Enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app (not SMS alone) under Account & Security before depositing anything. Store the recovery seed for the authenticator somewhere offline. Time: 3 minutes.
- 4
Complete Level 1 KYC
Submit a government-issued document — passport, national ID, driver's license or residence permit — then pass the selfie/face check. Use the physical document; photocopies and on-screen images are rejected. Results typically arrive within 15 minutes; manual review takes 24-48 hours. Time: 10 minutes active.
- 5
Deposit USDT
Open Assets, choose Deposit, select USDT and a network — TRC20 is the common low-fee choice. Copy the address, match the network exactly on the sending side, and send a small test amount first. TRC20 deposits usually confirm within about 2 minutes. Deposits are free. Time: 10 minutes including the test.
- 6
Optional: first spot trade
If you want an asset other than USDT, use Spot with a market order. Base-tier spot fees are 0.1% maker and taker on crypto-crypto pairs (crypto-fiat from 0.15-0.20%), verified 20 July 2026. Skip this step if you only plan to spend USDT. Time: 5 minutes.
- 7
Apply for the Bybit Card
Open the Card tab and apply — available to eligible non-EEA customers only, with completed KYC. The virtual card is issued after approval; the physical Mastercard ships separately. Cashback runs 2-10% by spend tier. Time: 5-10 minutes.
- 8
Top up and add to your phone wallet
Fund the card from your Funding account balance — USDT works directly, converted at spend time (0.9% conversion, 0.5% FX). Add the card to Google Pay, supported across card programs; Apple Pay depends on your regional program, so check the in-app card settings. Time: 5 minutes.
Before you start: who this works for
Bybit's own service agreement excludes the US, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and a list of other jurisdictions — US retail customers cannot open accounts, and UK retail access is restricted under FCA rules. Separately, the Bybit Card is not offered to EEA customers, a change Bybit documents in its EEA services FAQ. If either exclusion covers you, this guide's card steps will dead-end at the application screen.
For everyone else, the 40-minute estimate is realistic when automated KYC passes on the first attempt. Budget a day of buffer in case your documents route to manual review, which Bybit's help center puts at 24-48 hours.
KYC: documents and how long it actually takes
Level 1 verification asks for one government-issued document — a passport (with the machine-readable zone visible), national ID card, driver's license or residence permit — plus a live selfie check. Bybit's KYC FAQ states results typically arrive within 15 minutes; applications flagged for manual review take 24 to 48 hours. Level 2 adds proof of address and is only needed for higher fiat limits.
The rejections Bybit's help pages call out are avoidable: the document must be the physical original photographed directly (screenshots, scans shown on another screen and photocopies are auto-rejected), all four corners must be in frame, and the name must match your account details exactly. Shoot in daylight, avoid glare on the hologram, and Level 1 usually clears while you make coffee.
| Level | Documents | Typical time | Gives access to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Government ID (passport, national ID, driver's license, residence permit) + selfie | Typically within 15 minutes; manual review 24-48 h | Trading, deposits, withdrawals, card eligibility |
| Level 2 | Proof of address on top of Level 1 | Manual review, up to 48 h | Higher fiat limits |
Funding the account: three routes
Crypto deposit is the fastest and free: pick USDT, pick a network, send. TRC20 confirms in about two minutes; always match the network on both sides and test with a small amount first. If you are being paid in USDT, this is your route and the sender covers the withdrawal fee on their end.
P2P is the fiat on-ramp with no platform fee — Bybit advertises zero-fee P2P trading, with the spread built into advertiser prices. You pay a seller by bank transfer and receive USDT held in escrow. One-Click Buy with a bank card is the most convenient but carries card-processing costs that vary by region and provider, so compare the final quote against P2P prices before confirming.
Whichever route you use, funds for the card need to sit in the Funding account. Transfers between Bybit's internal accounts are instant and free.
The card: fees, cashback and phone wallets
The Bybit Card is a Mastercard available to eligible non-EEA customers with completed KYC. From our verified database (20 July 2026): no issuance or monthly fee, 0.9% crypto conversion at spend time, 0.5% FX fee, 2% card-side ATM fee, and 2-10% cashback depending on your spend tier. The virtual card works immediately after approval; the physical card ships by post.
Google Pay is supported across Bybit Card programs. Apple Pay availability depends on the specific regional program per Bybit's card FAQ, so check the card section of your app rather than assuming. Once added, the virtual card covers contactless payments everywhere before the plastic arrives.
Set the payment priority so USDT is spent first, and keep an eye on the cashback tier thresholds — the jump from base 2% upward depends on monthly spend and any token holdings, detailed on the official cards page.
The 40-minute clock, honestly
Account creation and 2FA take about 8 minutes. KYC submission is 10 minutes of active work, and the automated result typically lands within 15 minutes. A TRC20 test deposit plus the real transfer adds 10 minutes. The card application and top-up close out the last 10.
Where it can stretch: manual KYC review (24-48 hours), a P2P seller who is slow to release escrow, or card approval queues in your region. None of these are failures — just start the process a day before you actually need to spend.
Who this is NOT for
- US retail customers — Bybit does not serve the US market at all
- UK retail customers — access is restricted under local rules; do not build a spending pipeline on it
- EEA residents wanting the card step — the Bybit Card is not offered to EEA customers; the exchange steps still work where Bybit serves the country under MiCA arrangements, but pair them with a different card
- Anyone unwilling to complete photo-ID verification — every step from deposit limits to the card requires Level 1 KYC
- Residents of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore or Canada — all on the official excluded list
Frequently asked questions
Bybit's help center states Level 1 results typically arrive within 15 minutes of submission when automated checks pass. If the document is unclear or flagged, it routes to manual review, which takes 24 to 48 hours. Level 1 needs one government-issued ID (passport, national ID, driver's license or residence permit) plus a selfie; Level 2 adds proof of address for higher fiat limits.
